There was one level cross near Palakkad town station south end. During gauge conversion, it was closed. In North end of station, railway constructed the overbridge which is now being operational. Since there is one overbridge near to level cross, railway don't wanted this level cross to be opened anymore. But the road which lead to level cross has lot of shops include a main jewellary shop. So trade union was against closure. State govt contacts the railway, railway said, it will open the level cross, if state gives 2 crore for bulinding new LC and mainatance. State said yes. But now gauge conversion is over, state govt didn't provide the fund. Since fund was not provided, railway is now in no LC stand, but want one official confirmation from state that they are not providing fund and hence LC can be closed. Railway is waiting for this letter for few...

It's very sad to know that the CRS inspection is getting delayed due to the LC issue. Almost 7 years have passed after the closure of PGTN - POY MG line for Gauge Conversion. People of this region are going to suffer a lot due to the delay. Hope the issue gets resolved and the PGT - POY line gets commissioned after CRS inspection.

But permanent closure was what was being opposed isnt it by traders?I would be a real challenge to get it closed due to oppositions by various parties. Lets hope it gets resolved soon
yes. And that level cross is in heart of town. It will divide town into two. But since LC was closed for past many months, there was no much problem. May be it can be made permanent.
