There were quite a few trains ahead of it. Kerala express left PGT at 19:40 followed by ERS-SBC (I was in that train). Then TVC-GHY followed by Mangalore mail. I think quite a few trains were bunched hence one train stopping led to other also stopping behind and all of them were superfast !!!
From TVC side, workers have GHY express. But from Mangalore side, there is no train and Mangalore - Chennai mail act as perfect link. When train reached Kannur, many workers boarded my compartment, and i was the only person in my bay who was not among the workers. By the way, they didnt create any issue and gave my seat and berth when asked for. They were courteous. But problem is that(in my bay), they had 7 confirmed seat and 10 people traveling in it. 3 was having waiting list. In adjacent bay, 5 confirmed seat and 10 people in it. By the time train reached Calicut, situation turned pathetic, for moment it was like i was traveling in General compartment. But then someone complained and newly introduced train captain came into picture, he scolded TTE and then removed UR travelers among them. As train reached PGT, kicked out...

Ya. we reached SRR late by 20min, but departed 45min late because GHY had to cross, and since there was work going in OTP-SRR section, we had to wait at Mannanur to get clearance. By the time we reached PGT, it was an hour late. And after PTJ, Cheran was given to go ahead of us. Hence late got added up due to congested traffic ahead.
And it was delayed further due to non availability of PF and morning departure as MAS. Departed Perambur around 6.55. But tool almost 45 min to reach MAS. Waited at Vysarapdi for CBE Shatabdi, BBQ for SBC DD, MAS outer for BZA JS.

Good to note train captain coming into play. But I guess they need to be more consistent with their efforts to drive people out since they are constant throughout the journey whereas TTE keep changing
Yes. But with the number of people, it is tough task for TTE as well. In case of MAQ Mail, i guess they should consider adding one more general. As of now it is only 23 coach. And badly 12602 has 2 ladies coach. One general in front act as half RMS and half ladies plus one SLR in end.
