Let NR bring a daily train between Delhi and Chennai. Let it go to Madurai, Rameshwaram and Nagercoil 2 days each, with common schedule between Chennai and Delhi.

Let NR do the master stroke. Extension of GT will be a paralysis stroke for Chennai.
NR will never take initiative from his side they only wants SM in comparison of PM
There's no demand of extension or proposal. Grand Trunk is a dedicated train for Chennai residents , enroute and is unlikely to be extended. Tambaram is a new terminal and is being made accessible to nearby areas. Just because it's moved to TBM temporarily won't call up for extension to Madurai or Cape. Both of them have dedicated trains to Delhi and even if people want to come to Madras and board they can happily do so.
