It would be better if PGT and TVC are integrated into a single division, with HQ at Ernakulam.
Kasaragod to Nagercoil (646 km), Sengottai to Kollam (94 kms ), Ernakulam to Kayamkulam via Kottayam (115 kms), Shoranur to Nilambur (66 kms ), Shoarnur to Palakkad (44 kms) plus Palakkad to Pollachi (58 kms). Total 1023 kms. Just sufficient for one division.
The bad treatment of TVC to NCJ/ CAPE and of PGT to MAQ will end and NCJ/ CAPE and MAQ will progress in their respective states' division/ zones.

Better create Mangalore Division under SR or SWR including Kannur Main and South. Kannur and Mangalore have more platforms, Lines for accomodating more trains. Some trains can be halted in Bunder [ Mangalore ] also if needed. Mangalore have pit lines also. Major stations Kannur and Kozhikode dont have pit lines. Passengers don't bother Divisions, Zone. They needed Trains to transport. Govt will do good for the public.
Everybody is asking what is the source of the information ? Nobody knows. Just one MP it seems has come out with this piece of information. Railways may need to clarify. Similar request of a new division has cropped up in CBE. They want to move out of Salem once CBE became the third highest revenue generating stn in SR. Will have to wait and see as to what is the response and update
True. somewhat it appears to be a case of rumour mongering , primary facie . However, as you have rightly said , railways should provide a clarification in this regard.
Regarding new railway division/zone etc , it is upto IR to decide .
However, what ultimately matters at the end of the day is good rail connectivity as per needs and demands of a region.
