This was ought to happen. Because even if both pairs don't have break-neck crowds, they manage quite a good patronage throughout the year.

For what I've seen in ETW, GS boardings are also in pretty decent numbers. And while NCR/PRYJ with it's usual attitude may not add extra halts to the regular train, I agree with you they should definitely try extra halts over NCR for the special.

These districts have people working in Ludhiana, Jalandhar, etc, I don't think revenue will be much of an issue. And definitely, the ultimate solution is extension to SVDK and giving it a full length rake. But with Jammu Mail extension, I'm not so optimistic about that, unless Mahakumbh effect does some magic.

Infact, I have seen good de-boardings @ ETW & TDL as well, especially staff. 😉 (While I was onboard 22431)

Long distance trains fly in NDLS - CNB - DDU sector of NCR but NCR sud take care of the intermediate stations as well. I appreciate NER in this regard.

Haha, I, too, have seen these staff boarding and deboardings. Take Neelachal or some train at that time from LKO to CNB. You'll find the 3AC coaches being treated as general by either off-duty staff or daily passengers.

After CNB, a daytime Shatabdi or Gomati like train is needed. I don't think Shramshakti or Humsafars would attract many passengers at night. And for sure, the DDU-PRYJ section, after tripling, needs more MEMUs if not any M/E.

The curse of being the nonstop section for long-distance trains. Any train with many stops if slightly out of slot, will keep getting overtaken station after station. Even on time running trains are often sidelined at and before their regular stops and overtaken.

Let's see if Kumbh can take them out of this NR created mess of Jammu Mail and the SFG-MCTM sisters.
