Cantilever ( RAMESWARAM SEA BRIDGE ) Bridge which turned 100 years old on the 24th February 2014.

A passenger train bound to Rameswaram beautifully glides over the 2 KM long sea bridge , one of the most dangerous Sea Bridges of India connecting the main land to the Rameswaram Island built across the Palk Strait .The bridge was opened for traffic on the 24 the February of 1914.

The Bridge was initially a Meter gauge line and in 2007 the line was converted to Broad gauge as a part of the Uni-gauge Project of Indian Railways . The speed restriction on the bridge is limited to only 15 KM/hour.
