Today is RED letter day for the people of Karnataka in general and Bellary,Davanagere and other central parts of the state in particular as the 2 decade old dream of Kottur-Harihar line of 65 kms linking further with Hospet via Gunda road junction is fulfilled today.The line initiated by Sri Jaffar Sheriff in 1995 as RM is being opened by Sri Kharge in 2014. The line work faced lot of problems dueto fund crunch, farmers demanding more compensation thro Courts etc. The line is shorter route from Hospet to Mangalore port via Kottur,Davanagere,Arasikere and Hassan instead of BELLARY,RAYADURGA,CTA AND JRU. If Sakeleshpur-Chickmagalur is completed in right earnest and speed it will further reduce the distance. The line helps in transporting ore,fertilisers and agricultural products etc.

is a sheer coincidence that a rly project started by railway minister who was from karnataka, the opening of the line is done by railway minister who is also from Karnataka. These two have done justice to karnataka which was neglected by rlys.Thro Sri Sheriff we got MYS-SBC GC,SBC-GTL GC,UNI-GAUGE SYSTEM ACROSS THE COUNTRY and Rail Wheel factory etc and thro Sri Kharge we got Rly division for GR, WADI-GADAG LINE , YPR-BIDAR TRAIN,UBL-SC TRAIN and completion of Kolar-Chickballapur GC,Kadur-Chickmagalur new line ,Bidar-Humnabad and others. Kudos to Sri Sheriff and Sri Kharge
