One Question have always Landed me in a great Encyclopedia of No Answers.
-
The Question is
-
Do really Prestige of a train Matters a Lot when Public Safety, Demand and Convenience is Concerned?

I know Each Halt to a train Lands it in Deceleration for Few Minutes.
But we should not forget the Real motto of the Indian Railways was Before to Serve People with the Best Possible, not to run trains whose Prestigious is kept on Stake by Railfans only.
Afterall, trains are started for Public usage only.

but a two minute halt at borivali will not make a high difference......though the speed and punctuality is always a great concern for such high prestigious trains but we should not forget that Borivali is a suburb of mumbai and the train is meant for mumbaikars at a priority basis....hence the practicality of giving a halt to the mighty rajdhani is justified to a great extent.......

Yes that's true. But it loses almost 10 mins for decelerating/accelerating + halt time. A halt at BVI will not only eat up 10 mins of the travel time but also affects the local trains which runs behind Rajdhani. They will have to wait till Rajdhani clears the block which in the end leads to bunching of the trains. But yes,the halt has proved profitable,as almost 50% of the passengers board from BVI

Prestigious term is was introduced by Railways quite long time back, followed by Media moguls and RF's.
Rajdhani Class it self means, high speed, very less stops, better comfort and better price.
This doesn't mean it has to stop wherever its needed.
This class rarely gets interfered by RB, until some politician poke their fingers.

demand is second, as RB, Zone analyze the entire data n then finally decide whether to give a stop or not at that certain place.
Such places can b taken under experimental basis n reports on its income should be given to Board. If it fails to reach the expected target, then the halt should b withdrawn, but unfortunately, such practices are quite low in IR as they have to so called rules of the people and politician.

Exactly. A Rajdhani train is different from other trains. People are not paying more to see Rajdhani Exp halting at every station. If its important, and serves the purpose of a Rajdhani halt then it should be given or else deleted.
