Guys! Had an awesome 3-hr detailed discussion with The on-duty Gaurd of a Full AC LHB Duronto today (I am not mentioning the train name or his name in order to prevent identification)... He was very friendly, vocal and open in his discussions.. A veteran with 37 yrs of Gaurd experience, counting days for his superannuation - 1 yr 11 mnths 17 days to be precise. Discussion points / processes witnessed included: -
a) Exchange of communication between LP/ALP, Gaurd himself & passing-by station masters

why he has to fill scheduled timings? it can be pre-printed right as TT is known already?
Lot of paperwork is still done manually in IR. Who will print those pre-decided schedules? Clerks? There is acute shortage of them. Guards? They dont have laptops/pc's. Divisions get their blank log sheets printed in bulk, it saves cost. Any guard on any train can pick a few sheets from Store, and get rolling!
they get all their papers, forms and cautions information from the crew lobby.... i think then they fill all the time tables when resting and getting ready for his/her duty at the lobby itself..

Yes, I tried to mean that only. The pre-known info like ETA/ETD, run & slack time is filled there in the lobby only. The actuals are filled on board the train
