Can I get coach position information on the day of departure for any train?

yes you can get it easily
on the journey day, check your pnr status after chart preparation on www.indianrail.gov.in or on this site.

You can get the coach position for any train only by enquiring PNR status after chart preparation for a particular train. Without proper PNR No. you will not be able to find out the coach position for "any train" on the day of departure.
it will be specified in the next coloumn of the seat no, just check after chart preparation, you will find it easily if its given there
