Bloggers, can somebody explain me about rail fractures. As a layman i understand that rail fractures are cracks which appear on railway tracks and as per sources, these can be very dangerous and often leads to rail derailment. Now how much is this true ??
If this is true then what mechanism does IR have to detect rail fractures. i also read that rail gang man/line man are responsible for detecting rail fractures and ensuring preventive action.
Again if this true then how is this being checked between kalyan to cstm where on

Rail fractures can happen any moment of time. There is no specific time for this. It can happen in day time as well as night. For gangmen/trolley is practically possible/feasible to check when trains are passing after every five minutes in all the directions ??. i assume there must be some alternate/superior technology to cross check these type of fractures.

I gave reason as y it happens,,,shrink mostly occur in night while expansion @ day,,,which can impact any time,,,but the diffrence is high in winter & so high fracture report in winters...
There exist block points @ every section, when u find less outflow of trains..thts the time when regular check happens...
Gangmen walk with big screw & Hammer & vigil thruout...his territory spans one station to next....its not tough for him to find any issue...while for extremely congested tracks, break time exists, as in case of Mumbai Suburb....night is totally free to
