per news, the restoration of UP 4014 will b done by 2018-2019, which means the Big Boy will return back to the mainline, but with Oil Firing System which is already in use in few steam locos, for one example is the Darjeeling Hill Railway Steam locos, the Nilgiri Locos, these are equipped with oil firing system.
But the Monster needs much larger amount to revive its original power.
