TTEs are not seen on days except Fridays and Sundays. Hence, RAC quota allotment is difficult. Most of the passengers in this train disembark at Ernakulam.
Advice to passengers: Passengers with legitimate ticket may not be able to get into the train at KJM due to the heavy rush at KJM. Most of the people who embark from KJM are office goers who get down at BWT. Hence passengers with reserved tickets are advised to board from either SBC or BNC.

I got the opportunity to chat with two squad members of TTEs (those not wearing the usual blazer of TTE but with ID card and badge) while travelling from KCVL to SBC in 16316. The chat was informative. They said that they were just present in the train to collect extra fares. They added that they were the only personnel deployed in the train. I also asked the reason for the same. They pointed out that there is acute shortage of TTEs by around 500 in Trivandrum Division alone. There are many issues concerning Indian Railways. It should be ensured that there are enough TTEs to verify whether the passengers are travelling with a valid ticket. Otherwise, it is a blow below the belt concerning revenue of IR. These factors, though petty it may seem, play an important role in the larger and continual development of IR.
