A train was halted for some time after a railway lineman placed a red flag on a track before going to sleep. The lineman identified as Santosh was allegedly under the influence of alcohol. The incident took place at Meshampur in Nizamabad district on Saturday.
The driver of Kacheguda-Bodhan passenger stopped the train on noticing the red flag on the railway track fearing that there was some danger ahead.

woke him up and found to their utter shock that the lineman had mistakenly placed the flag on the track before dozing off.
The train later resumed its journey. The incident had made the passengers panicky as they were not sure of what had happened.
They heaved a sigh of relief after knowing about the lineman.
A senior railway official said disciplinary action will be initiated against the erring lineman after conducting an inquiry into the incident.
