only other option for the trains to cross this affected area is via WR or via PUNE -DD- MMR route either of which delays the trains by minimum of 8 to 10 hours.

IR has long since envisioned and even announced in Railway Budget that new line between Nasik & Pune would be laid. But where?

The benefit would not only limited to reduction in travel time to half between these cities but act as a major bypass line in case of emergencies in either of the routes.

FACTS:-
PUNE NASIK Rly Line: - Expected to be around 200 kms
Present By pass via DD - MMR :- 385 kms
