You can check news from media sources. Many people have said that even 2020 is difficult.
Dear if it's 2020, then forget any new projects, railways ki saari poonji DFC ka loan chukati reh jaaegi har saal. The overrun amount going to be increasing every year, making it impossible for IR to make returns. To be on safe side, IR must put this project to complete for it to make returns to repay the loan which it has already got from world bank and Japan.
it means patiala route will get 1 more track? doubling of dis route?
as per my knowledge and research over this, it is said that the doubling of this section shall match the DFC timeline. In easy words, by the time EDFC completes, this route section shall also be doubled from Rajpura-Bathinda. For doubling through Patiala, in some areas, IR might have to re-align the existing track. As I have seen there is an ample space for doubling, just need to re-align or re-lay the existing track at certain portions.
