How many general coaches are there in this train ? If one is holding a wait listed ticket which may get cancelled , can one plan on buying sec seating ticket and get into general coach ?

Can't say about the tatkal tkts but whatever i told is my personal experience a year back in the month of october end though i got my seats reserved but i saw that people were sitting pretty well in Gen coaches.
If u travel with family in these trains, it is wonderfull experience. Don't go with ac shivalik exp on this route, if u want to enjoy tunnels, greenery etc.
