does it ever happen like train has tickets in current reservation but some PNR's are WL/RAC even after chart preparation?

For short journey legs availability would be there even if end to end availability is zero...
Excellent point. This is a viable scenario, especially in really long distance trains.
I think the status may also shows as wl or rac minutes before preparation of chart of a particular train of a particular class, but after preparation of charts it may show available in current reservation status due to non exhaust of some quotas like HO quota or Foreign Tourist quota or tatkal quota etc although after allocating these vacant seats to wl/rac ticket holders.
Sir.. the question is available seats in current even when status is waitlist AFTER chart preparation.
