BHOPAL: Indore-Bhopal AC double decker train, struggling to be on rails owing to poor passenger load, seems to have created some sort of a record, albeit unknowingly. It is perhaps India's smallest train currently, operating with just two passenger coaches from Tuesday.
Railway officials have maintained all coaches of the train were overdue for periodic maintenance and hence are being sent one by one.

by one for maintenance, the first coach was sent on Tuesday night. Once all the three coaches undergo maintenance and are back, the train will run to full strength," said an official.
"Occupancy still continues to be 60 to 70 seats per trip daily hence, even one coach on the section is sufficient. We still have two coaches running for the time being."
Train was reduced to a shadow of its former self after 11 coaches were shifted to Konkan Railways on May 2 this year. Three coaches of double decker train were operational with 120 seats in each of the coaches.
The train might be shifted to Indore-Surat route or to Ratlam which witnesses heavy passenger traffic for most part of the year, a source indicated.
Bhopal-Indore AC double-decker was the fifth such train in the country.
