CBE Madurai intercity was already existing and I have travelled in it in 2004 or 2005 - It used to start from Madurai in the morning and return before night.
CBE-Madurai passengers were operating from both directions at day. CBE-Kollam express went via Palani, Madurai and Shencottah.
