There was a time in 90s when Amritsar was the most important station in North India. majority of trains north of Delhi would start from Amritsar, then Amritsar was replaced by Jammu Tawi in 2000s. Jammu was give more importance than Amritsar, Then recently Chandigarh also gained some limelight, Trains to LKO, AII, JP, YPR, SBC, PPTA, DBRG, KCVL, SNSI, NED, ALD, ASR, LKU were started from CDG. All of a sudden a small station of Chandigarh which was just ba passing station for trains to Kalka for tourists to Shimla became an important station in north India. Now the limelight will be shared by both CDG and SVDK. Due to SVDK, JAT will anyways be benefitted. But ASR will be left behind. Now a days ASR gets only a couple of weekly trains in each budget.
