In the new timetable(September 2014 edition) it is seen that a new "Premium Ac Exp" Vide Train No:22842/22841 HWH LTT Premium AC Exp and a premium AC Special having train No: 02242/02241 HWH LTT AC premium Special(Limited Run from Sept 25 to Oct 2) have been given from Howrah(HWH) to Lok manya Tilak(LTT).
Now the question arises is whether the aforesaid two Premium AC Exp actually required for this route or not??
Already there are plethora of trains between HWH and LTT namely:
03061
...
Hwh Mumbai Weekly Puja Special
22512 Kamakhya Mumbai LTT Karmabhoomi Exp
18030 Shalimar Mumbai LTT Exp
12152 Samarsata SF Exp
12102 Jnaneshwari Super Deluxe exp
I think the aforesaid two "Premium Trains" would be a "Redundant One" if introduced.
Instead
if IR can make "12102 Jnaneshwari Super Deluxe exp" a full AC Exp, it will cater to the need of the above noted premium services and will be profitable for the railways to a great extent.
Comments are welcome..........

Respected Sirs,
Please see the following report regarding "Traction Motors" which is one of the most critical and vital equipment for any locomotive as released by Chittaranjan Locomotive Works(CLW).
Traction Motors
CLW started Traction Motor manufacture from 1969 with Alsthom design of MG-1580 motors and TAO-659 motors and switched over to HS15250A, 850 HP Traction Motors for which technology was received from Hitachi,
...
Japan. HS15250A Traction Motor production started in 1988-89.
Now with the advent of three phase technology of locomotives from Bombardier Transportation, Switzerland, CLW has geared up to manufacture 1000 HP and 1500 HP state-of-the-art 3- Phase Traction Motors for freight (WAG-9) and passenger (WAP-5 & WAP-7) locomotives.

CLW also has in-house manufacturing facilities of other Electrical power and Control equipments i.e. Smoothing Reactor, Inductive Shunt, Master Controller, Traction Braking Switch, Electro-Pneumatic (EP) Contactors and Reversers.

The different type of Traction Motors manufactured at CLW are following:-
I. 3-PHASE TRACTION MOTOR TYPE 6FRA6068 & 6FXA 7059
3-Phase Tracation Motors type 6FRA6068 for WAG-9 and WAP-7 locomotives & 6FXA7059 for WAP-5 locomotive are being manufactured indigenously by CLW since the financial year 1998-99 & 1999-2000 respectively. With the production of 3-phase Traction Motor,CLW has entered the era of state of the art,3-phase technology.
II. HITAHI TRACTION MOTOR TYPE HS15250A
Hitachi traction Motor is one of the most critical and vital equipment in conventional Electric locomotives type WAG-7 & WAP-4 under production at CLW.The production of Hitachi TM is now completely stablized.
Attached Pic:
1 Hitachi Traction Motor Type HS15250A(For WAG-7 & WAP-4)
2 3-phaseTM type 6FRA6068(For WAG-9 and WAP-7)
3 3-phaseTM type 6FXA 7059( For WAP-5)
4 Recent Developments of CLW
The upcoming projects of CLW:
NEW PROJECTS
Fund under plan head 4200 (Capital)

Augmentation of facilities for enhancement capacity of Three phase locos to 50 locos per year. (AP-50)

Augmentation of facilities for enhancement capacity of 3 phase locos to 50 locos per year. In long term perspective, production of 3- phase locos at CLW will increase and production of conventional locos will reduced gradually.

Project for creation of additional facility for enhancing the production capacity of CLW up to 200 locos per year.(AP-200)

Project for creation of additional facility for enhancing the production capacity of CLW up to 200 locos per year. This was required to enhance the production capacity of CLW to 200 locos per annum (including 50 three phase locos per annum) to meet the increased loco requirement of Indian Railway.

Modernization and augmentation of production capacity from 200 to 275 locos per year.(AP-275)

Modernization and augmentation of production capacity from 200 to 275 locos per year. The demand of electric locomotives is going up continuously to cope with the increase in freight traffic and passenger traffic and to take care of requirements of new routes of electrified. With increased electric locomotives requirement, CLW shall produce at the rate of 275 locomotives per year.

Electric Locomotive Factory at Dankuni, West Bengal

The unit will work as an ancillary unit of CLW. Initially state of art 3-phase high HP locomotive with regenerative breaking of 6000 HP (WAG-9) electric locomotive will be turned out. Subsequently, the infrastructural facilities shall be utilized for the production of 9000 HP locomotives in future.

Centre of excellence for design , development & evaluation of advanced technology system for electrical rolling stock.

The purpose of establishing the Centre of Excellence is to develop capability for designing, development and evaluation of advanced technology systems for Electric Rolling Stock. The idea is to become a technology exporter from present status of technology importer in Rolling Stock equipments. The main benefit that will accrue from this project is that we shall become self reliant in the field of development of Electric Rolling Stock equipments which will come in a big way not only for the domestic requirement of adoption of new technology in rolling stock but we shall be in a position to cater to the emerging world market as per the customized requirement of different countries.
LIST OF DEVELOPMENTAL ITEMS
1. IGBT based Auxiliary Converters
2. IGBT based Traction and Aux Converter with VCU
3. Open Control VCU
4. HOG – WAP-7
5. HOG – WAP-5
6. HOG – WAP-4
7. Active Speed Sensor
8. Doppler Radar Based System
9. Driver Display Unit
10. Wireless Loco Control
11. Alternate Drive Gear Assembly for WAP-5 for 160 kmph
12. Drive gear assembly for WAP-5 200 kmph
13. Cab Air Conditioning
14. VCD in Conventional Locomotives
15. Oil free Compressor
16. Fire Detection in Conventional
17. Oil Cooling Unit
18. Air Operated Pantograph
19. High reach Pantograph
20. Operation of WAP-5 in MU
21. PCMIS
From the above discussion it can be ascertained that slowly and steadily future generation locos(i.e WAP 5,WAP 7 & WAG 9) will replace the Conventional Locos(i.e WAP 4 & WAG 7) in the coming years but at the same time conventional locos will be there but with advanced system and in few numbers.
