I travelled by New Delhi-Lucknow Premium spl train (04434) on 27.9 and returned by same train next day.In sleeper class, there was no ticket checking staff or TTE and in both the journeys, no one came to check tickets. This is alarming as Railways have made it compulsory to fill ID card no at the time of booking of tickets apprehending malpractices. There was no one to allot berths to RAC passengers who were capturing any available vacant berth. Several unauthorized persons were travelling in corridors in this fully reserved train. On the very first trip of its journey, train started late by 1.30 hours from its origin New Delhi.

I repeat. Premium does not imply high class travel, tasty food, on time performance. Premium here implies that you are lucky enough to find a seat to travel to your destination having failed to get a normal priced one on ARP . If it runs quickly, its an added bonus.
I think IR should use a different word other than premium. Many are getting confused with the wording and concept.
and if it runs with just one passenger on board, consider it a gift from IR :)
If thats true Premium fare shouldnt be more than one and half to twice d normal fare..
Also, in the time to come Premiums would be a failure, to an extend Premium with Sleeper Classes would run full, but fully AC wont.
Xception would be Premium trains between metros..
