Trip Report- Oct 2nd 2014
Taking a cab till YPR from home almost 20 kms away, reached YPR at 19:10hrs 90 mins still more for train to depart- YPR station enterance was completely crowded with beelines for queues for various tickets to various trains moving in and out of the station seemed to give a look of SBC station
Moved onto Pf-1 comparatively empty platform with regard to YPR entrance- Pf-1 was waiting for rake of 22134 Solapur Express from yard- Pf-2 was occupied by the 16527 Kannur Express which was already filled

up- Looked like intermediate stations people wont find any space in UR
Announcement went for 16571 Bidar Express departure from PF-5 while UBL WDP-4 entered into PF-3 with 16535 Mysore-Solapur Gol gumbaz with a huge crowd waiting to board it
The announcement came soon about allottment of 06517 on Pf-5 of YPR- boarded the staircase to find the rake entering onto PF-5 simultaneously as 16535 started departing from PF-4. As we descended the stairs, 12864 to Howrah left from Pf-6
Went near our coach S-7 and doors were not opened- opened 10 mins later and settled in oru seats with luggage. The lights were not on so came to PF again to find the HSRA-YPR DMU stationed in a corner of Pf-4. Our coach was 2013 made coach with bio-toilets.
Dad was surrpised at length of the special rake and i said it was RSA with 12629/30 Sampark Kranti. He then said oh then AC might be more I said need to check out. mom was too happy with Sampark kranti, one of the journeys she enjoyed by 12649 way back in 2006 (Was a non-stop then with only tech halts)-
In meantime lights came and my dad said fien i will board. My eyes went to rake in middle pit line in an non-understandable language- Went ahead to see the board saying Sambalpur special. Went ahead to see the link KJM WDG-3A 13299 doing the honours. Came back to find chart pasted indicating following allottment
UBL- 10 passengers
DWR-10 passengers+ 6 RAC
BGM-25 passengers+2 RAC
Balance-MRJ
Shows the good patrinage for this train for NW Karnataka region. in meantime 12258 Garib rath was pushed back into PF-6. As my dad enquired what happened why not departed, we started pulling out of YPR
Just as we pulled out and started accelerating, I remaked to my dad showing the accelerating capacity of WDG-3A and the way the train sped up unlike the counterparts of SBC moving out of snail pace till BNC-Heard the EOG humming and turned around startled to see the shining Red rakes of the Raj snaking towards Yelahanka track- We raced against availability le coaches as i remarked- special overtaking the King
Few minutes later as we entered Chikbanwar, a chugging alco went past hauling the 11021 Tirunelveli bound Chalukya astoshingly ahead of shecule by 30 mins meaning 12080 Jan shatabdi being held up somewhere enroute getting delayed
Finished dinner and just as neared Nidvanda, 12080 hauled by a wDP-4 went past us delayed by 40 mins. A minute later, another EMD went past us hauling the passenger from UBL after getting overtaken by the Jan shatabdi. Slowed down for TSR near Kiatsandra and picked up speed again and slowed down at Tumkur outer where KJM alco hauled 16516 Karwar Day Express went past us with empty coaches running behind schedule. Entered Tumkur at 21:35-55 mins for the 65 kms stretch and we put up our berths to go to sleep
To be continued.....
