Hello All,
I'm still not getting what is the use of Duronto trains ? Passengers are allowed to board only from starting point and other passengers in the intermediate stations cannot use these trains. Are these trains are profitable ? Can't railway allow passengers to board from technical stops also ?

I agree with it, one or two might be profitable. Just see this scenario, I'm from Calicut and it will be very difficult for us to get confirmed ticket to Mumbai. But at the same time, the Duronto train from Ernakulam to Mumbai is almost vacant on all schedule. I think railway should think seriously about allowing passengers to board from the stations where Duronto stops for technical reasons. What do you day ?
Yes, there are some Durantos that run empty in most of their runs. IR is soon planning to convert them to AC expresses with important halts in between. But I dont see LTT duronto getting converted into AC express. AFAIK, it has pretty good occupancy in most of its runs.
Some Duronto trains are full packed through out the year. I like Duronto
There is a big demand for a daily Superfast express from Trivandrum to mumbai.....sadly the RB hasnt bothered to look at this...
the chances of this LTT ERS duronto being converted to SF is almost nil.....CR said that it gets decent occupancy and hence it would not convert it.
anyways...the train has received rave reviews....i hve hardly heard of anybody who was in discomfort by travelling in this train

All the points are valid. I just tried to book tickets to Mumbai from Calicut for traveling on 12th of November, but no confirmed tickets, but at the same time, the Duronto that starts from ERS has having almost 300+ seats vacant. I would have got ticket for this train, if IR allows passengers to board from Calicut. Also this train has a technical halt at Calicut for 5 minutes.
