Dear All
Good Morning,
I recently traveled from Tirupathi to Duvvada, as i could not get direct train to visakhapatnam in the 2nd week of November, 2014, which departs from Tirupathi at 1955 pm and arrived at Duvvada at 800 am. This is supposed to be superfast express.
To my surprise, the ac 3 tier bogie was not even cleaned, i understand the

train had just arrived half an hour back and is back departing, the "assistant " in compartment was candid enough to tell that , he would not give the blanket, as it is not clean and they don't have fresh stock, thank god for it.
The 3ac compartment was so dirty and full of cockroaches and rats, it has about 5-6 stops between tirupathi and duvvadda and surprisingly does not even have pantry, as the run of the train is more than 26 hours.
@ Duvvada, there should be some direct bus connection to city ( Visakhapatnam), non-stop, so this would save time to the passengers, there are quite a few trains transiting via duvvada, without touching visakhapatnam, to save 2-3 hours of time going into that loop. There r only few auto's and city buses that are available.
Railways have increased fares quite high in recent past, however there is no improvement in services even in AC coaches.

It takes about 30-45 minutes to get inside visakhapatnam, then there is a halt of at least 30 minutes for any train , engine is reversed and then again takes 30-45 again to go back to main line to BBS/Calcutta, hence average time is at least 2 hours, hence some of the trains are not touching vizag, hence there is nothing to kid in this issue.
You can tell, what time it would take else to enlighten others???

Engine is never reversed at Vizag, FYI.
Those days were over quite a decade back when engine used to decouple from rear, travel all the way to front n attach back.
LSA is modified.
As soon as the train enters, the other loco from trip shed comes in gets coupled in just 10-15 mins n waits till it gets clearance from

tower.
let it b a late runner or on a on timer.
Gopalapatnam - Kancharapalam Outer - Gopalapatnam has 60-70 kph restriction, so obviously, most of the trains need to slow down inside a city.
Since RRI, i see no trains getting much delayed unless there's a heavy traffic ahead or some work at progress.
DVD - VSKP hardly is 25 mins if its clear, or else depends. (slack ignored)
VZM - VSKP hardly is 40-50 mins, if its clear or else depends. (slack ignored)
Loco change max 10-15 mins, irrespective its scheduled or delayed arrival.
So i don't see 3hrs being wasted here, after RRI came into the city.

Hi
I meant the engine will change, however you agree too that it would take 1.5 hrs to 2 hours. I have said 2-3 hours, hence you are taking the higher side of hours just to prove your point. Ultimately, your own judgement is also about 2 hours. I said i am not a railway staff to get full details, i am only a traveller. That is basically the idea of railway officials/ to the passengers travelling to calcutta, NE side to save time on travel.

1.5 hr to 2 hrs not possible.
If train wont go to vizag. It has to via Gopalapatnam bypass which is a big 180 degree curve with 30 kmph speed restriction. By that time in main line it goes to Kancharapalam. Then it stops at north Simhachalam station for Loco pilot change. More than 7 hrs loco pilots wont work...so compulsory loco pilot change is required. By that time it goes to VSKP.
Also for every 6 or 7 hrs they will do water filling in trains so all diverted trains stop

at vzm for 10-15 min. By this train will reverse back from VSKP. If every thing goes well by using bypass you can save max 20-25 min.
