why is that some trains run with WDP - 4 OR 4B loco and some with WDM 3A/WDG.
Is their any difference between the two in terms of speed or on what basis is this loco allotted to trains ?

Locos are allocated on the basis of availability,need,Train TT,section and terrain.
Thanks. i generally felt that long distance trains are given locos with maximum speed .since different locos have different power to generate.
WDP4 is best diesel loco because of best accleration and more HP
