WHY DOUBLING N ELECTRIFICATION OF PUNE SOLAPUR IS IMPORTANT AND NEEDS URGENT ATTENTION?
Bhusaval and Solapur are almost equidistant from Mumbai CST. While BSL is 445 kms far from CST, SUR is 455 kms away from CST.

BSL is a double electrified line while For CST SUR, Pune SUR sector still is a single diesel section even though it is one of the major connecting link between major metros viz Mumbai to SBC / MAS / HYB. IR has till date made budget announcement s but the progress is tardy and one of the main reasons in fund allocation.
A SF train from CST to BSL requires approx. 6 hrs 05 mins min to cover the distance with an avg speed of 73 kmph including Ghats n Suburban section.
However, a SF train from CST to SUR requires approx. 7 hrs 40 mins min to cover the distance with an avg speed of only 59 kmph including Ghats n Suburban section.
I have excluded loco change time in both cases assuming that loco change won't be required once CST goes under AC wires n Pune SUR work will pick up speed n completed in next couple of Years.
With these facts I rest this case here for your views n comments. Trains can be speeded up by atleast 45 mins to 1 hour if not more in this section if doubling n electrification takes place faster.
