Somehow, LPs resist attachment of dead locos on a regular basis. Though I've no technical expertise, has heard that dead loco attachments make the front portion of the consist heavier, thus making handling of the rake complex and tough. Believe breaking too becomes an issue with dead loco attachment. With frequent stoppages on the Konkan Route, don't think it will be a wise move to operate a Rajdhani Class service with a dead loco attached. May be they can consider running it with WAP 5/7 between NZM & PNVL, change loco to WDP 3A/4D till MAJN/CAN and change again to WAP 4/7 till TVC. But will the time spent on multiple loco changes be worth the trouble is anybody's guess!
PNVL has no ELTS for a loco change to happen. The nearest ELTS on that line after PNVL is BL, but a loco change there would unnecessarily increase the running time of this train. While it may waste a lot of diesel, from the running-time point of view, the current arrangement for this train is perfect.
