My friend and I will be visiting India starting next week and we are waitlisted on train 12343 northbound from Sealdah to New Jaipalguri on Sunday, Feb 1st. we're in 1st A/C and are at the top of the list according to the post as of this morning. We have travelled on Indian trains before and will be taking a bunch of them on this trip, starting in Delhi..all our other trains are confirmed so was wondering what to do if we turn up early on the day of and find that we are still waitlisted. We are both senior citizens, btw, and from the UK although I live in the States.

I don't really mind what class as long as we can get on. We booked this through a travel agent in Delhi two months ago and they confirmed all trains except two (from Varanasi to Kolkata that took forever and stopped everywhere which I have since cancelled and we're flying instead), and this one. I checked the other classes on this train for this date and they're all waitlisted too. Train 12377 which another gent recommended is also waitlisted in every class with 3 in First a/c so if we were to go with that one, we would be 4 and 5 on the list. I think maybe we should stay put as we are 1 and 2 with 7 behind us. Makes sense, I think given this late stage in the game. I am monitoring the status each day and in the meantime...
