its not population alone ., jaipur n other named ones have catchment area and people from all sides ., surat has vadodra /ahemdabad / mumbai in near distance having lots of train thus - if need is surat to kerala then one has point for stop at surat else if one need this train to be used surat-delhi then better this do not stop at surat
