The aftermath of the terrible cyclone of 1964 is well-known. The Boat Moal got washed away in the sea and thousands of people died. Dhanushkodi turned into a ghost town and disrupted the railway connection between Chennai and Colombo. Now, the train runs between Chennai and Rameswaram and it's still a huge pride of Indian Railways. However, in the light that modern technology is being utilized to make marvelous bridges throughout the world, it would be a tribute to the original Boat Mail if the Indian and Sri Lankan governments take a joint initiative to construct a bridge re-establishing connection between Dhanushkodi and Talaimannar. It would a respect to the railways we had and the advanced railway system we have.
