This is about Howrah-Madras Mail in the year 1992. During those days the dep. time was approx. 20:00 hours.
We had to return urgently from North-East to Madras. I was travelling with my uncle, a Sales Manager who travelled frequently. We got flight tickets from Guwahati to Kolkata Dum Dum. After that we wanted to travel by train (cost factor), but we didn't have any ticket.
As soon as the flight landed at DumDum, my uncle told me to bring the luggage and ran towards the exit. When I slowly came out with

luggage, he was waiting there smiling, he had 2 reserved tickets in Madras Mail. I was astonished, he explained. By his travel experience he knew that there was a small railway ticket counter at DumDum airport. There were 2 (or 3) tickets quota available in Madras Mail, only for those who landed by the Guwahati-Kolkata noon flight- we had to show our flight tickets in order to avail that (emergency?) quota. It was given on first-come first-served basis, that's why my uncle ran to the exit immediately after landing.
We got the train tickets but taxi from DumDum to HWH got stuck in traffic jam. Vehicles were lined up with no chance of movement. Uncle hit upon a plan for that also. We paid the taxi and took a cycle-rickshaw to the nearest steamer ghat in the Ganga, boarded a steamer and reached Howrah before time. We booked a room in Yatri niwas, took bath, then boarded Madras Mail.
Thank you all for patiently reading.

many objectors don't even read and understand a post carefully, that's why such silly reasons for objecting. Sometimes they aren't enough matured to get the sarcastic meaning of a post.
PS- I know there wasn't anything sarcastic you wrote, it was just an observation :)

Then the reply may qualify for disagreement, not objection. The admin has apologized too if the blogger felt bad.

I am concluding ... During this tour, My uncle was taking me with him (sponsor) and he had to return urgently, that's why we partly travelled by flight- at his expense. Otherwise I always prefer train travel only. Train travel is free from travelling sickness which can happen in flights and during travel by road also.
Many thanks to those who enjoyed.
This reminiscence was kindled after reading PKV Sir's reminiscence about Madras Mail.
