Platform tickets to cost Rs 10 from 1st April 2015.

Not a wise move. Instead they should have looked for more convenient ways of purchasing Pf tickets like thru SMS etc. Already half of them dont buy PF tickets in India, now 3/4th wont buy.
But may be they are trying to dissuade people from coming into stations to drop their kith and kin to avoid over crowding. These days to drop 1-2 pax, a whole dozen land up at the station.

This is also to avoid crowd at important stations during festivals,mela etc. However platforms tickets are costlier by Rs 5 compared to passenger train tickets upto 15 km which is Rs 5 only.This hike won't serve any purpose and may not see much revenue for rlys.
