I have 2 AC WL 2 & 3 for my journey from MughalSarai to Bangalore on 17th May 2011. What are the chances of getting it confirmed? Fearing it will not get confirmed, I also booked tickets on same date (17th May 2011) from Patna to Bangalore but that again is waiting list 2 & 3 in 2AC. How are chances for this ticket?
Please let me know. I will be with a small kid alongwith and hence getting worried. I already placed PNRs, in PNR forum for prediction.

Imagine that the RLGN stays in WL and the GNWL Confirms only after chart preparation. You would not be then allowed to change the boarding station. As a result it would be equivalent to loose out the berths.
Cancel the GNWL ticket, as the RLGN ticket has got 99% chance to confirm. In case you are unsure of its confirmation and do not want to take any risk, you can go for tatkal booking on 13th of May; for doj 15th of May.

Are you sure RLGN will have more chances of confirmation? My understanding is GNWL will have more chances as RLGN is for remote location and will be confirmed only if some one from that remote location cancels the ticket.
However you are right, I will wait till mid of May and any doubt will try for Tatkal. Also do you know anything about special train 03296 which runs on same line as this one. This seems to special train. Is it summer special?

The RLGN ticket you hold will confirm.
There is a difference when you speak of RLGN and RLWL. Both are remote location quotas; but as the term RLGN suggests, there is a General Quota added to it; meaning it gets a share from the originating station (General Quota) and thus holds a lot of berths; further facilitating RAC provision.
In case of RLWL,

it holds only its own quota (usually less in no; around 4 approx) and has less chances of confirmation.
