First try for waiting ticket and if nothing works than get a general ticket while if tte catch you, he will charge you the fare difference ( which you will pay anyway for W/L ticket) + 250 rs fine. So you will have to pay 250 rs extra but you will get in the sleeper coach. This should be your last option.
PS: Sometines TTEs don't check tickets if train is very crowdy.....
