Central Railway's switch to 25kV alternating current from 1500 V direct current between CST and Thane has got postponed till Tuesday .
CR, which is the only section on Indian Railways which runs on DC, had planned the conversion this weekend and thereafter undertake conversion on the Harbour line corridor.
“We are now working to undertake the switch from DC to AC on May 26,“ said S K Sood, CR general manager.
CR does not want to wait till CR does not want to wait till the following weekend to carry out the work as officials fear that once monsoon sets in, it would be difficult to carry out the conversion. Sources said the commissioner of railway safety central had sought at least four days to carry out the inspection as a result, the switchover got postponed.
Another 4 days wait. Hope they do it by tuesday now.
