The 55753 Alipurduar - Guwahati Sifung passenger train derailed today over bridge number 422 between Salakati and Basugaon station in the Kokrajhar district of Assam at around 05-15 hrs. Five coaches got derailed and the engine capsized as a result of the derailment. Accident relief train immediately rushed to the site with all equipments and medical help. There was no casualty. Four persons including Driver and the Asst. driver received minor injury and they were referred to hospital. High railway officials from Railway HQ, Alipurduar Division and New Bongaigaon immediately rushed to the site and started restoration work. As a result of the derailment train running over the UP line got affected.
