As many as eight locations, where no railway line has ever gone, got computerised Passenger Reservation System (PRS) during last one year. While half of these computerised reservation counters are operated by the Defence Department, the other half are operated by State Governments. These initiatives by the Commercial & Signal and Telecommunication Department of N. F. Railway have helped people in fur-flung areas, where there is no railway line, to book reserved tickets for their journey.

Commercial Department has also added to the facilities for the railway users by installing 10 Pay - and - Use Toilets and 19 car parking locations in various stations during the last one year.
The PRS locations operated by Defence are - Gangtok Military station, 224 Siliguri Transit Camp, Umroi Military Station and Jorhat Military station. The PRS locations operated by State Governments are – Ziro in Arunachal Pradesh, Ravongla, Pakyong and Jorethang (all three in Sikkim)
Apart from these eight PRS locations, seven other rail-head locations got PRS and Universal Ticketing Systems together during the year. These were Viswanath Chariali, Sapatgram, Salakati, Gohpur (all in Assam), Harmuti & Naharlagun in Arunachal Pradesh and Mendipather in Meghalaya. The Universal Ticketing System (UTS) is used for issuing advance tickets for passenger trains without reservation. Such UTSs have also been opened in 17 other locations in N. F. Railway during the year. Out of these, 14 are in Rangiya Division’s jurisdiction, one in Katihar division’s jurisdiction and two are in Alipurduar Division’s jurisdiction.
Pay - and - Use Toilets was installed in six stations under Alipurduar Division and four stations under Rangiya Division. Similarly, Car Parking was added in four stations under Katihar Division, six stations under Alipurduar Division and nine stations under Rangiya Division.
