Some good news for Ernakulam & suburb passengers: Demu service to chug in by July-end.
• A new rail service linking Aluva-Ernakulam Town and Tripunithura — benefitting two lakh commuters — will be ready by the end of July. Cochin harbor terminus and Ernakulam goods yard will be included in another 4-6 months .
• The introduction of Demu is the first part of railway's plan to introduce a local service connecting Aluva, Ernakulam Junction, Ernakulam Town, Tripunithura, Ernakulam Railway Goods (ERG) station (located behind the high court) and Cochin Harbour Terminus Station (CHTS).

will be four shuttle services and the travelling time will be 45 minutes
• Southern railways GM has given go ahead to include Ernakulam goods yard and Cochin harbour terminus
• CHTS will be ready in 4 months & Ernakulam goods yard in six months since entire 1.5 km track will have to be reconstructed and the railway station building will have to be renovated.
