Harshad Pavagi~ 5543 blog postsAs a part of the 'testing acts' after Mumbai CR Mainline went under AC traction it was decided that there will be a special train consisting of 24 coaches which will be hauled by WAP5 as part of testing, specifically to test Down fast line which is mainly used by Long distance trains and EMUs.
Now the WAP5 was bought/requested in from GZB shed, and it was lying idle in the KYN ELS if I'm not mistaken for nearly a couple of days. Just before the conversion day it was transferred to CSTM ELS.

Yes we did, We gathered at about 10:00 PM and spent the entire night/ early morning covering the event.
This test was for 2 purposes I guess :-
1) Performance of P5 with 24 coach loads in KYN-IGP section
2) Line testing
Both purposes were achieved. P5's performance was found satisfactory. From what I've heard, CR had requested NR to send P5.

GOOD NEWS that CR is now running 3 Phasers.
Today I have come up with a solution for the Zones of IR which don't have any 3 Phase Loco but can get the benefit of 3 Phaser. How?

It does look like CR had requested NR for a P5 loco;
It was just a case of line testing, 11057/58 had run with P5 in KYN IGP section after KYN TNA LTT went under AC traction anyways, so it wasn't a case of testing P5 with 24 coach load, but just testing Down fast line after it was fully under AC traction :)
