can we board the originating place of the journey for which we had bought the ticket choosing 2nd or 3rd stations as boarding points/stations
No we cannot- once we chose the boarding point, the boarding from the original point is not allowed- However you can take a UR ticket and travel provided the same seat is not allotted to someone else for the interim
how come we had paid for from the original point of the journey - ?
suppose the distance from the original point to boarding point is covered under distance restriction i.e. no reservation is allowed for that short distance - then can we board the original point instead of chosen boarding point which may be next station...?

Yes you can board the train with the same ticket .... the only thing is that you can't claim for your seat if somebody else is allotted the same till your boarding point or so..... You will have to adjust.... 100% sure
