Powered by 23903 and 23317 WAG- 5A (P) twins of TATA shed, the 12858 Digha Flag Station (DGHA)- Howrah (HWH) TAMRALIPTA Superfast Express and SRC WAP- 4 hauled 12278 Puri (PURI)- Howrah (HWH) SHATABDI Express fight it out, as both try to enter the biggest station in India (In terms of number of platforms), i.e. Howrah station ahead of each other. The outcome?? Passengers of both trains get to witness an exciting neck- to- neck parallel arrival at the terminating station. Meanwhile, the 12042 New Jalpaiguri (NJP)- Howrah (HWH) SHATABDI Express comprehensively defeats both the trains by smoothly entering Howrah ahead of us. And we also cross the 12860 Howrah (HWH)- Mumbai C.S.T.M. (CST) GITANJALI Superfast Express with an off-link Itarsi (ET) WAP- 4.
TAMRALIPTA follows the Howrah- Santragachi- Uluberia- Mecheda- Tamluk- Kanthi- Ramnagar Bengal- Digha route.
PURI SHATABDI follows the Howrah- Santragachi- Kharagpur- Balasore- Cuttack- Bhubaneshwar- Khurdah Road- Sakhi Gopal- Puri route. The train actually started running as A.C. DURONTO Express. But due to low patronage, it was converted into SHATABDI Express from February 8, 2013. And now, it gets brand new LHB rake.
