a fairly good speed with the 12261 Mumbai C.S.T.M. (CST)- Howrah (HWH) A.C. DURONTO Express, and then slows down a bit while crossing the Kharkai river bridge just prior to the arrival at Tatanagar Junction. While crossing Adityapur, we race past a huge fleet of freights, with a few WAG- 7s and BNDM WDG- 3A doing the freight duties. We also encounter a TATA STEEL PLANT loco shunting a freight towards Adityapur from the TATA STEEL PLANT.
Adityapur is a town in India named after Raja Aditya Pratap Singh Deo, the last ruler of Saraikela. It is today an industrial town/sister city separated from the famous city of Jamshedpur by the Kharkai River. It lies in the Seraikela-Kharsawan district of Jharkhand. Today it is considered a part of the Jamshedpur Metropolitan Region. As part of the Indian government's Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission (JNNURM), Adityapur will be included under the Greater Jamshedpur plan. It is predominantly an industrial region and once held the record of being the largest industrial belt in Asia.
