This train passes through Handri river before entering Kurnool

It's named after the Handri river ( A tributary of the Tungabhadra river) passing through Kurnool (one of the terminating stations of this train).
Hundry is a river passes through Kurnool.. Though this train doesnot cross the same as it is after KRNT station towards DHNE
