At present, apart from Island express, there are 4 trains -- 6315/6316 for 3 days in a week, 6321/6322 - once a week, 2257/2258 - for 3 days in a week and the newly introduced KCVL-YPR superfast exp - once in a week. The total number of such services per week is 8. Apart from this, for 2 days, we have 2683/2684 ERS-SBC from Ernakulam. Add together, we have 10 trains from Ernakulam to Bangalore. The surprising fact is that there is no train on fridays and on other days, one train follow another within a gap of 2 hours. What a pity.

Though railways might have introduced trains with such timings for some reason when they were introduced, it is high time that a total rationalisation efforts are intitiated for all tarins.
