Railways goes as per their system not mandatory to abide the changes done unless it been acted upon external sources...
i think even if it is changed to kakinada city, the station code remains the same i.e CCT.
External sources means unless it is meant to be changed after perseverance by MP...Kurnool change happened due to Ex MoS Rlys.
If I am right Kurnool has become corporation long back may be around 1990s..With The Rlys it continued to be Kurnool town and was changed to Kurnool city upon perseverance by its MP who was then Ex Mos Rlys.
