There are 3 types of WAP locomotive in production namely WAP-4,WAP-5 and WAP-7.
Wap-4 Max Speed 140 kmph,
HORSE POWER-5350.
Wap-5 Max Speed 160 kmph,
HORSE POWER-6000hp,continuous 5450hp.

Wap-4 are conventional loco.
Wap-5 and Wap-7 are three phaser high speed loco.WAP-7 are probably best passenger loco in terms of power and efficiency.So CHITTRANJAN LOCOMOTIVE WORKS has decided to stop production of WAP-4 from this November.So with no WAP-4 being produced ECR will get WAP-7 to meet the demands of e-loco and MGS and GMO are contenders.GMO stands a better chance as its experienced in three phase loco handling in form of WAG-9.Hence I said MGS or GMO may get WAP-7 soon.
