The main congestion is in Pune-Solapur-Gubarga section which is mostly single line. Gulbarga-Guntakal section is not the bottleneck as they are quite a few patches that are doubled. Diverting via Gadag-Hotgi won't help the situation as trains will still have to take the Hotgi-Solapur-Pune section which is the main bottleneck on the Mumbai- Guntakal route.
