I read that it was facing several issues during the trial phases. Hope they are resolved now!!
That aside, looks like running this loco on LHF mode is going to be a true nightmare for the LP's ! The lower cab height ( so that radiator grill is not in the way) looks useful for LHF driving, but this looks as bad as the original WDP/G4 locos for LHF mode driving !

...which means DLW should work on another class WDG5D right away! :D In order to keep its overall weight under control, the weight of the underframe must be trimmed. Currently it weighs around 133.8 tonnes (axle load 22.3 tonnes).
In fact, its radiator grill is also bigger in size as compared to the original EMDs. So, the only option was to lower the cab height. But anyways, this is only a prototype model. Serial production is yet to start!

freight locos are meant to be heavy, as TE directly depends upon weight.
Yes. But the axle load should be kept within limits. Our tracks have a max axle load limit of 22-23 tonnes only. And besides, I was specifically talking about its dual cab variant (again, a theoretical possibility), which is obviously going to be heavier than this one.
